    Codex and Agents

    Use the codex and agents targets to write skills to ~/.agents/skills, then check them in Codex with /skills.

    #A shared destination

    Both --tool codex and --tool agents write skills to ~/.agents/skills/<skill.name>/. Both values are equivalent for the destination. --tool all includes this directory and ~/.claude/skills/<skill.name>/.

    #Apply the Maleta

    1. Validate

      bash
      maleta validate --file ./maleta.json

    2. Simulate for Codex

      bash
      maleta install --file ./maleta.json --tool codex --dry-run

    3. Install for Codex

      bash
      maleta install --file ./maleta.json --tool codex

    4. Or install for Agents

      bash
      maleta install --file ./maleta.json --tool agents

    The --tool override applies only to that run and never rewrites targetTool in the JSON. Built-in and GitHub skills follow the same pipeline; selecting the destination changes only where they are materialized.

    #Check in Codex

    After installation, restart Codex and use /skills to check the available skills. If the base directory is elsewhere, the MALETA_CLI_HOME variable changes the home directory used by the CLI.
