#Declare plugins

Plugins are a list of strings in the manifest's plugins field. An identifier can point to a Claude plugin, for example:

#Installation in Claude Code

Plugins are specific to Claude Code. When a marketplace is required, the CLI runs claude plugin marketplace add <repo> and then claude plugin install <id>.

Command	Behavior
`install`	Installs the plugin without first detecting installed plugins.
`sync`	Runs `claude plugin list` first to detect installed plugins.

During sync, an installed plugin is skipped with [ok] plugin '<id>' already installed. The install flow does not perform this check first and reinstalls it.

#When a plugin is skipped

With --tool codex or --tool agents, the CLI prints [skip] plugin '<id>' is Claude-only and is unsupported for --tool <tool>.
If the local plugin catalog could not be loaded, the CLI prints [skip] plugin '<id>' is not available in the local plugin manifest; not installed.
If the catalog was loaded but does not contain the identifier, the CLI prints [skip] plugin '<id>' is not present in the local plugin manifest; not installed.
