#Export and import

1. Export the manifest

   In the workspace, export the selection as maleta.json. The file is the portable Maleta manifest and includes skills, plugins, targetTool, and targetOs.

2. Transfer the file

   Send the JSON to the other workspace through a channel that preserves the file's contents.

3. Import into the destination workspace

   Import maleta.json and review the selection before running the CLI.

4. Validate locally

The maleta.json input string is limited to 1 MiB. The serializeMaleta and parseMaleta round trip preserves the JSON byte for byte when the representation is serialized again: the serializer uses two-space indentation and a final newline.

#Refs for reproducibility

For a GitHub selection, prefer declaring a fixed ref in each source. Without a ref, GitHub uses the mutable default branch and the CLI issues a warning; branches and tags are also mutable refs. A 40-character hexadecimal SHA is classified as immutable.

#Share across computers with Cloud Maletas

Instead of manually copying files between machines, you can save a Maleta to your account and synchronize it across multiple computers using the CLI's device reconcile commands:

1. Save to your account

   In the workspace at app.maleta.dev/maletas, click "Save to account" on any saved Maleta. Each account holds up to 3 Cloud Maletas.

2. Authorize your computer

   Install the CLI on your machine and authorize it with your account:

   maleta login

   Confirm the code displayed in your terminal at app.maleta.dev/device.

3. Bind and follow

   Bind this computer to the Cloud Maleta by name or ID, then start following updates:

   maleta attach <maleta>
   maleta watch

   The watch daemon continuously checks for new revisions, applies skill updates, preserves local hand-edited files, and never deletes files.

4. Inspect and clean up

   Run maleta status anytime to check the active revision, and use maleta prune to safely remove files that Maleta previously wrote but no longer uses.
